Join Our Health Benefits Working Group!

A Joint Working Group on Employee Health Benefits will consist of three representatives designated by the union and three representatives designated by the University.

The Working Group will meet, discuss, research, review, and make recommendations for a new health benefits plan in place of the existing Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) in respect to the following:

  • The structure, content, and costing of a new health benefits plan

  • The Employer’s contributions to such a plan shall not exceed the Employer’s expenses related to the HCSA for the Sept 2024 to Aug 2025 plan year

The Working Group will make recommendations to the Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity and Culture no later than May 1, 2026.
Recommendations from the Working Group will be considered by the Vice-President of People Strategy, and those recommendations that are accepted will be implemented without undue delay.
In particular, best efforts will be made to implement any new benefits plan resulting from the recommendations of the Working Group no later than September 1, 2026.

To be considered for being a representative on this Joint Working Group behalf of Unit 3 members, the criteria is the following:

  • One-year time commitment from September 2025 to May 2026

  • Willingness to understand, represent and speak for the diverse needs of the union members and their families

  • Able to critically evaluate multiple proposals and make recommendations

  • Be a CUPE 3902 member in good standing for the duration of the working group
