Consider nominating yourself for a 2026 Unit 1 steward position!

Stewards are the connective tissue of the Local—they organize with colleagues and other workers across the university to fight for better working conditions and support colleagues when they run into issues with the employer. Becoming a steward is the easiest and most impactful way to get involved in labour organizing in your workplace.
You can read more about the role and responsibilities of stewarding on page 31 of our bylaws.
The term will run from February 2026 through January 2027.

Nominations are open until Friday, January 23 at midnight. Elections will take place the following week; in departments where there are more nominations than available positions, elections for stewards will take place after nominations close.

To nominate yourself to be a steward, please fill out the application form in the Member Portal. If you don’t see it there, make sure you have signed your membership card, either in person or virtually through the Member Portal (Membership Application Form).
