Officer Nominations Open: Third Vice-President, Communications & Recording Secretary, Unit 8 Lead Steward!
The following officer positions for the 2026-27 term are open for nomination:
Third Vice-President (Unit 5 and Unit 8)
Communications & Recording Secretary
Lead Steward, Unit 8 (Research Associates)
Duties, compensation, and commitment for each position can be found in the local’s bylaws.
Nominations close on August 6, 2026, seven days prior to the scheduled General Membership Meeting on August 13, 2026.
Nominations cannot be made on the floor of the General Membership Meeting.
A completed nomination form must be submitted to the Local’s Chief Returning Officer (cro@cupe3902.org) by the August 6, 2026 deadline. The nomination form shall be signed by the nominator and include 9 additional members who second the nomination.
Nominators and seconders must be members in good standing. This includes being political members of the union (see below for details). Nominators and candidates are responsible for ensuring all nominators and seconders are members in good standing by the Aug 6, 2026 deadline.
Unless the member has accepted their nomination in writing prior to the General Membership Meeting, the nominee must be in attendance to accept their nomination. Additional details can be found on Member Portal.
Eligibility
Each member in good standing is eligible to be nominated to a position with two exceptions. Only a member of the relevant unit may be nominated to numbered Vice President positions and to Lead Steward positions.
No candidate is eligible to stand for two positions other than for Vice President and Lead Steward positions. A candidate who is unsuccessful in an election for a Vice President position may run for the Lead Steward position of the unit where they are a member.
Political Membership Registration
Be sure to register as a political member of the union on the Member Portal in order to be eligible to run for positions, nominate other members, and vote in elections!
