I am a 9th-year PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology having served as a teaching assistant and course instructor in the Anthropology and Forensic Science programs at the Mississauga Campus.  Over the past two years I have served CUPE 3902 Unit 1 as a member of the Equity Funds Sub-Committee, specifically as a trans representative.  In addition to my work with CUPE 3902, I also have been selected to serve on the Diversity Outreach Committee of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences as well as the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee of the Canadian Association of Biological Anthropologists.  For my personal background, I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee in the United States, and have been engaged in LGBTQ+ activism in various rolls in the past with a number of organizations, both academic and non.  I completed my Master of Science degree at Boston University where I continued to serve in a number of capacities including as a program representative on the graduate student union where I again pushed for equity and diversity.  Having faced adversity due to mental health conditions, in addition to GSM work, I also am an advocate of mental health and neurodiversity issues, believing that these should also be incorporated under the “Equity” umbrella.  Being mainly based at the Mississauga Campus, if elected, I will be a fierce advocate for all members, in all units, and across all three campuses.  I want to thank you and I appreciate your vote.
