Giorelle Diokno
Equity Officer

Giorelle (he/they) is a PhD candidate and works in Unit 1 as a Course Instructor and Teaching Assistant at the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies. He has previously served the membership in the following capacities: Equity Officer 2021-22, Chief Returning Officer 2020-21, Departmental Steward. OWEN Mototsune
Lead Steward, Unit 1

Owen (he/him) is a member of Unit 1 working as a TA in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering and has been a Departmental Steward for the past two years. As Lead Steward Unit 1, Owen is excited to work with stewards across the University and show our coworkers our collective power when we work together and organize—please reach out to inquire about becoming a steward!

Daniel Tarade
Lead Steward, Unit 3

Daniel instructs in the Master of Biotechnology program at University of Toronto Mississauga and lectures in the Midwifery Department at Toronto Metropolitan University. They served as a steward in U3 since August 2022. Daniel is a member of the CUPE Ontario Climate Justice Committee and chairs the Labour May Day Committee, a United Front of over a dozen trade unions and socialist organizations that organizes an annual rally for International Workers’ Day. Daniel’s priority as lead steward for U3 is to build active engagement among the rank-and-file and strengthen our unit’s capacity to win gains, before and during bargaining.

Fraser Ferens
Lead Steward, Unit 5

Fraser (he/him) is a member of Unit 5 and works in the department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP) where he studies the relationship between cellular oxygen sensing and cancer. Fraser previously served as a Unit 5 Mobilization Steward, Unit 5 Departmental Steward for LMP and most recently as Vice-Chair Unit 5 in Winter 2022. He is excited to be working to improve working conditions for Postdoctoral Fellows at U of T and organizing Unit 5 to prepare for bargaining!

Katherine Snell
Lead Steward, Unit 7

Katherine (she/her) is a member of Unit 7, where she recently served on the Bargaining Support Committee. As an MA student in Social Justice Education at OISE, Katherine’s research addresses the schooling system’s ongoing implication in settler colonialism and carcerality. She believes that union work is one way we can practice different kinds of study, together. If you are an OISE GA who wants to get involved in building worker power at U of T, don't hesitate to reach out!

Albert Ho, 2021-24

Albert Ho (he/him) works in Unit 3 as a Sessional Lecturer for the Graduate Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences (DPES) at University of Toronto Scarborough teaching Contaminated Sites Remediation to students of the Master of Environmental Science Program.

He is a professional engineer and has over 20 years of experience in the field of environmental risk management, investigation, and remediation. His experience includes both working as an environmental consultant and working in industry including real estate and manufacturing.

Albert is an active member of CUPE 3902. He is currently a member of the Bargaining Support Committee and a Stewart and has previously served on the Grievance Committee and Budget Committee.

Cecilia Lam, 2022-25
(pro-tem)

Cecilia works as a Unit 3 SIA (and formerly worked as a Unit 1 TA) for the Department of Management at UTSC. In the past 5 years, she has experience working in public accounting, investigations, and business valuations. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and is currently a registered student of the Chartered Business Valuators Institute. She holds, both, a BBA and a Master of Management and Professional Accounting (MMPA) from U of T. She is a curious person and enjoys continuous learning. The question is always, what’s next?

BRIAN HANRATTY, 2022-23 (PRO-TEM)

Brian (he/him) works in Unit 1 as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Toronto Scarborough's Department of Management. Currently, Brian is an MBA student at the Rotman School of Management and a remote LLB student at the University of London.

He is a Licensed Paralegal and has represented clients at the Ontario Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant Board. In addition, Brian works as a business consultant focussing on strategy evaluation and revitalization. Previously, he worked as an Engineering Project Manager with Bombardier Aerospace.

Brian holds a BASc in Industrial Engineering and Minor in Engineering Business from the University of Toronto, an MEng in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), and a Paralegal Diploma from Trios College.
