The following Sessional Lecturer position is available in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, for the Winter 2008 Session. Salary: Sessional Lecturer normal rate of pay is $6,275.00 (inclusive of 4% vacation pay) for a half course (F, S or Y) in accordance with Article 21, CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Course Number-Title-Description: CSCC43H3 - Introduction to Databases - Introduction to database management systems. The relational data model. Relational algebra. Querying and updating databases: the SQL query language. Application programming with SQL. Integrity constraints, normal forms, and database design. Elements of database system technology: query processing, transaction management.

Time: Wednesday 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Subject to Change)

Estimated Enrolment: 86

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to course.

Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for the position include The minimum qualifications for the position include:

  • previous teaching experience as the instructor of a Computer Science course at the 2nd-year level or higher (strongly desirable), and

  • previous teaching experience as the instructor for CSCC43H or equivalent (strongly desirable).


Note: Hiring Criteria for these positions includes but are not limited to, academic qualifications, mastery of the subject matter, Teaching excellence and past teaching experience. Preference in hiring will be given to Sessional Lecturers currently appointed at the University of Toronto. It is understood that the posted position may or may not be filled at the discretion of the department, or may ultimately be filled by an appointed or retired faculty member. This is pursuant to Article 14 of the CUPE Local 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. These positions are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
