Course Number & Title: AEC 1275H Special Topics: Neuropsychology for the Practicing Clinician

Estimated Enrolment: 25 maximum

Class Schedule: Monday Mornings 9:00-12:00pm

Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have:

  1. Doctorate degree in Counselling and/or Clinical Psychology;
  2. Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with neuropsychology competence;
  3. Consulting or research experience in neuropsychology;
  4. Assessment and supervision experience in neuropsychology

Duties: Instructors are required to:

  1. Teach minimum of 36 hour course (12 three-hour sessions)
  2. Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials
  3. Assess and evaluate students' work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices
  4. Be available for informal meetings/communication with students as necessary

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will introduce students to the rationale, methods, and interpretive strategies regarding neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis involving known or suspected acquired neurological disorders in adults. Emphasis will be placed on learning the strengths and weaknesses of the various psychometric procedures currently used for neurocognitive testing and the critical importance of integrating this information with neurological, neuroradiological, and related medical data.
