COURSE NAME: Introduction to Anthropology
Estimated ENROLMENT: 1450
BASIC DUTIES: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including the supervision of any assigned TA support, and the completion of any course work and grading not completed by December 31, 2007
General Course Description: ANT 100Y examines society and culture from various anthropological perspectives: Biological Anthropology, the study of the evolution and biological diversity of humans and non-human primates; Archaeology, the study of the material evidence of human activities in the past; Linguistic and Semiotic Anthropology, the study of ways in which language and other systems of human communication contribute to the reproduction, transmission and transformation of culture; Social / Cultural Anthropology, the study of the great range of social and cultural organization in societies of varying complexity.
Estimate of TA Support: 1 full position (280 hours), 4 0.5 (half) positions (140 max each) for 1 FCE
Dates of Appointments: September 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007
Class Schedule: Thursdays 6-8, classes begin Sept 10 and end April 11
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology
- Experience teaching introductory Archaeology
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Salary: $6275 for Sessional Lecturer I and $6775 for Sessional Lecturer II.

COURSE NAME: Special Topics in Biological Anthropology

General Course Description: Unique opportunity to explore in-depth a particular topic in Biological Anthropology. Topics vary from year to year.
Prerequisite: A 200+ level ANT course
Estimate of TA Support: 0.25 (70 hours)
Dates of Appointments: September 1 to December 31, 2007
Class Schedule: Wednesdays 10-12 pm, September 10 to December 7, 2007
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology
- Candidates should have demonstrated mastery and teaching competence in biological anthropology and/or bioarchaeology.
Salary: $6275 for Sessional Lecturer I and $6775 for Sessional Lecturer II.
