Educational and Psychological Testing for Counselling

Estimated Enrolment: 25 maximum

TA Support: None

Class Schedule: Monday evenings: 5:00-8:00pm. First Class: January 7. Last Class: March 31.

Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have:

  1. Doctorate degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology or related field in psychology
  2. Teaching experience
  3. Expertise in counseling therapy interventions including brief psychotherapy
  4. Experience in educational testing

Duties: Instructors are required to:

  1. Teach minimum of 36 hour course (12 three-hour sessions)
  2. Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials
  3. Assess and evaluate students' work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices
  4. Be available for informal meetings/communications with students as necessary

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

A survey of standardized tests typically used by counselors in schools, community colleges, and other settings. Topics included are: a review of the basic concepts in tests and measurement; criteria for evaluating educational and psychological tests; rationale underlying the development of various tests; and practice in administration of tests and interpretation of tests results.
