Sessional Lecturer Position (Unit 3)
Fall Term 2007

The Equity Studies Program seeks a course instructor from September 1 - December 31, 2007* to teach the following course:
NEW444H1F: Social Change and Non-Violence
NEW444H1F: Examines theories and practices that promote the building of cooperative, non-violent communities. Grounded in a series of historical case studies, including the Sri Lankan Sarvodaya movement, the course critically considers Gandhian principles and the ways in which these have been translated into collective action.
Enrolment Estimate: 20 students
Class Schedule: Thursdays 6:00pm-8:00pm, Wetmore Hall, room 51C
Salary: $6,275 (Sessional Lecturer I) - $6,775 (Sessional Lecturer II)
*Please note the position includes the completion of any course grading not finished by December 31.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a completed or nearly completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a scholarly background in areas related to the specific course. Teaching experience at the university level preferred.
Note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and teaching weekly lectures
- Providing office hours for academic counseling of students
- Marking and grading assignments
