PHL324H5F, The Continental Tradition, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30-3:00pm
A study of recent traditions of continental philosophy such as phenomenology, existentialism, hermeneutics, critical theory, structuralism and post-structuralism. Figures such as Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, the Frankfurt school, Lacan, Foucault, Deleuze and Derrida.
September 1 - December 31, 2007
Estimate of course enrolment: 40
TA Support: None if 40 students or less, otherwise (enrolment - 30) x 1.2 = TA hours.
Salary: $6,275 inclusive of vacation pay.
Qualifications: PhD in philosophy is preferred, but applicants (non-current U of T students) who have completed all the course work for a PhD in philosophy will also be considered. We are seeking previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, and mastery of subject area. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is highly desirable.
Duties: preparation and delivery of course material, supervision of teaching assistants (if course size warrants), preparation and delivery of assignments, tests and examination, marking of student work, submission of grades to university officials, reasonable student contact hours.
