The positions for Sessional Lecturers that are available in the Department of Management, UTSC, for the fall 2007 and winter 2008 academic sessions are posted on the departmental website.
This is a regular posting in accordance with the Collective Agreement between Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3. Please note that in accordance with that agreement, preference in hiring is given to qualified persons holding the rank of Sessional Lecturer II. Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I rate $6,500 per half credit course inclusive of vacation pay. Sessional Lecturer II rate $7,000 per half credit course inclusive of vacation pay.
Classes run:
F courses: September 10–December 3, 2007 (final exam period December 7-21)
S courses: January 7–April 3, 2008 (final exam period April 14 – May 2)

ECMA01H3 F – Introduction to Microeconomics

Course Description: Economic theory of the firm and the consumer. Although calculus is not used in this course, algebra and graphs are used extensively to illuminate economic analysis.

Course description: This course is intended to help students understand the information systems that are a critical component of modern organizations. The course covers the technology, design, and application of data processing and information systems, with emphasis on managerial judgment and decision-making.
Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.
Qualifications: CA designation required. Previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, currency and mastery of subject area. Previous teaching experience in teaching a similar course at university level.

MGTC12H3 F&S – Advertising: From Theory to Practice

Course description: An introduction to the basic communication tools used in planning, implementing and evaluating promotional strategies .The course reviews basic findings of the behavioural sciences dealing with perception, personality, psychological appeals, and their application to advertising as persuasive communication. Students will gain experience preparing a promotional plan for a small business. The course will rely on lectures, discussions, audiovisual programs and guest speakers from the local advertising industry.
