Innis College Writing Centre Instructors (2007-2008 Fall/Winter Session)

Description: The Innis College Writing Centre encourages applicants with relevant experience teaching writing one-on-one or teaching in university courses with a writing component. Previous experience in a writing centre is not essential, although such experience would be an advantage. Training or experience in second-language instruction at the university level, in editing, or in studying or teaching science would also be assets. The Innis College Writing Centre favours applicants with a commitment to remaining in the position of writing instructor beyond one year.

Size of Appointment: 150 hours minimum

Date of appointment: September 1st, 2007 - April 30th, 2008. All positions include the completion of any grading not completed by April 30th.

Rate of Pay: $38.00/hour (plus 4% vacation) for Writing Instructor level I; $41.00/hour (plus 4% vacation) for Writing Instructor Level II.

Qualifications: These positions are open to suitably qualified applicants with a completed graduate degree from a post-secondary institution.

Duties: The chief duty of instructors at the Innis College Writing Centre is to instruct students individually in university writing, especially in organization, critical thinking and reasoning, style, and language use. Instructors may also be asked to prepare instructional material and to deliver group instruction in college program courses.
