The Joseph L. Rotman School of Management has the following Sessional Lecturer positions available in the MBA Program and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students. No late applications will be considered.

Course Title/Sections: MGT 2300H - Corporate Financing

Number of Positions Available: 1

Dates of Appointment: This course is offered during the Fall (September 2007 - December 2007) Term.

Description of Course: An analysis of the framework underlying corporate financing decisions. Among the problems analysed are the capital structure of firms, the maturity structure of debts, bond covenant provisions and types of debt, dividend policies, share valuation models and alternative financing strategies and instruments.

Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.

Minimum Qualifications: A graduate degree is required with a specialization in finance or investment banking. Preference will be given to those with advanced training in finance or significant industry and teaching experience related to the course.

Salary: (per semester-long course or 0.5 Full-Course-Equivalent): $12,550

Anticipated Enrolment: 40/section

Minimum TA Support: 1.00 hours/student enrolled

Course Title: MGT 2304H Capital Markets and Financial Institutions

Dates of Appointment: During the Fall (September 2007 - December 2007) Term.

Description of Course: This course focuses on the management of financial institutions and their interactions in capital markets. It starts with the regulatory framework that the institutions face and examines the impact of regulation/deregulation and globalization. Attention is focused on the risk management techniques and the risk based capital allocation schemes that have developed for financial institutions. Sectors covered are: banking, insurance, mutual funds, and pension plans.

Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content, supervision of a teaching assistant; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.

Minimum Qualifications: The instructor should be a current or former senior manager with a Canadian financial institution with practical experience in the capital markets area and the problems facing Canadian financial institutions. Professional qualifications should include an MBA, CA, or CFA with prior teaching experience at a post secondary institution. Alternatively a recent finance or economics PhD graduate with experience teaching money and banking or financial markets will be considered.
