Sessional Instructional Assistant Positions in Management

The following positions for Sessional Instructional Assistants may be available in the Department of Management for the 2005-06 academic session. This is an emergency posting in accordance with the Collective Agreement between Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 (Unit 3). It is understood that announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment. Salary: *$33.26 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

  • The rate of pay as of September 1, 2005, will be adjusted once the Unit 1 negotiations have been concluded.

Classes run:

F courses: September 12 – December 5, 2005

S courses: January 9 - April 7, 2006

Contract dates:

Fall 2005: September 1 –December 31, 2005

Winter 2006 – January 1 – April 30, 2006

MGTB06H3 F & S Financial Accounting II

Course schedule: F – LEC30; S – LECs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 30, 31

Estimated enrolment: Fall 60; Winter 450

Course Description: This course is a continuation of MGTB05H. Students are encouraged to take it immediately after completing MGTB05H. Technical topics include the reporting and interpretation of debt and equity issues, owners' equity, cash flow statements and analysis. Through cases, choices of treatment and disclosure are discussed, and the development of professional judgment is encouraged.

Qualifications: CA and experience as a marker of cases.

**MGTC07H3 S – Intermediate Financial Accounting I**

Course schedule: S – LEC30 WE 7-10

Estimated enrolment: 50

Course description: Together with MGTC08H, this course examines financial reporting in Canada. Through case analysis and the technical material covered, students will build on their knowledge covered in MGTB05H, MGTB06H and, to a lesser extent, MGTB03H

Qualifications: CA

Duties: Marking cases.

**MGTC08H3 S – Intermediate Financial Accounting II**

Course schedule: S – LEC01 TU 11-1, TH 11-1, LEC02 TU 2-4, TH 12-1, LEC30 TU 5-7, TH 9-10

Estimated enrolment: 40-50 each section

Course description: This course is a continuation of MGTC07H. Students will further develop their case writing and technical skills and professional judgement through the study of several complex topics. Topics include leases, bonds, pensions, future taxes and earnings per share. Students must complete MGTC07H before attempting this course.

Qualifications: CA

Duties: Marking cases.

MGTD50H3 F & S Advanced Financial Accounting

Course schedule: F – LEC30 TH 7-10; S – LEC30 TH 7-10

Estimated enrolment: 40 each term

Course Description: Consideration of accounting practice in the context of accounting theory and concepts for a number of areas including inter-corporate investments, and foreign currency translation.

Qualifications: CA with experience marking cases

Duties: Marking cases.
