- How do I know which Unit I'm in?
- How do I know which jobs to apply for if I'm between Unit 1 and Unit 3 (i.e. graduating or lapsing)?
How do I know which Unit I'm in?
You know you're a Unit 1 member when: you're a student or post-doc hired as a teaching assistant, lab demonstrator, course instructors, marker-grader, etc.
You know you're a Unit 2 member when: you're hired as a sessional, teaching assistant, writing instructor or tutor at Victoria University in the UofT.
You know you're a Unit 3 member when: you're NOT a registered student at UofT (newly graduated, long-time PhD, registered at another campus, or lapsed) who is hired as a sessional lecturer, sessional instructional assistant (sessional TA), writing instructor, or music instructor/coach.
How do I know which jobs to apply for if I'm between Unit 1 and Unit 3 (i.e. graduating or lapsing)?
Student status (or non-student status) at the time the course begins determines which Unit jobs you can apply for. If a student expects that s/he will have convocated by the time a course is due to begin, s/he would apply to a Unit 3 posting and not a Unit 1 posting. However, if the student has not graduated when the course begins, s/he is not eligible to accept a Unit 3 contract.
However, if an individual has lapsed, and is re-enrolling solely for the purposed of dissertation defense, that student would be eligible to apply for Unit 3 work and not for Unit 1 work.
Individuals cannot apply for Unit1 and Unit 3 positions at the same time.
