At 2.45 am on Saturday, November 25th, Unit 3’s Bargaining Team reached a tentative agreement with the Employer. We will meet at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, 28 November in New College’s Wilson Hall, room 1016, to vote on the Tentative Agreement.

This was a very ambitious round of bargaining. We were asked by members to secure an agreement that improved wages, benefits, and job security, accelerated advancement with a path to permanent employment, and ensured more workplace respect and inclusion. We believe we have made significant gains in these areas, and thus recommend ratification of the agreement.

There are two steps to the process of accepting or rejecting this Tentative Agreement:

1) On Tuesday, November 28th, a Unit 3 membership meeting to decide whether to send the tentative agreement to a full ratification vote.

2) If sent to full ratification, polling stations will open at the meeting, and then at additional times and locations over the next three days.

While the Bargaining Team is unanimously recommending this agreement, it is ultimately up to members to decide whether to accept it. Should you reject it, bargaining will continue with the assistance of our Conciliation Officer.  At this point, the parties could continue at the table or either could choose to set in motion the process which determines a legal strike or lockout deadline.

At the meeting, the Bargaining Team will walk you through the agreement and highlight the key provisions of the agreement and the gains made. There will be ample time for questions and comments about the Tentative Agreement and next steps.

Whatever the members decide, the Union will continue to fight hard for your interests and rights at work. Your Bargaining Team feels this is the best agreement they could achieve and we are proud to present it to the members of CUPE 3902, Unit 3.
