Benefits information for non-student Sessionals at the University of Toronto

Professional Development Fund
The Unit 3 Professional Development Fund is accepting applications for expenses related to your teaching and/or academic work from the 2009-10 academic year. The deadline for applications is 1 October 2010. Please see below for more details.
Conference Fund
The Unit 3 Fund to offset expenses incurred for attendance at an academic or pedagogical conference related to your teaching is now closed. The deadline for applications was 18 June 2010. Thank you for applying. The 2011 application period will open on 1 September 2010 (for projected expenses for the 2011 calendar year).
Health Care Spending Account (HCSA)
The Unit 3 HCSA allows Sessional Lecturers and hourly-paid sessionals with 160 hours of work to be reimbursed for eligible medical expenses.
Group RRSP
The GRRSP is an optional RRSP for all Sessional Lecturers who are not already enrolled in the UofT pension plan.
T2200 - Claiming Home Office Expenses on Income Tax
The T2200 is a declaration signed by your employer that avers that you do more than 50% of your salaried work at home. The University has agreed to sign these forms when the member meets the required conditions as outlined by the government. With this form signed, you can declare some of the expenses of your residence against salaried earnings.

Professional Expenses and Conference Travel
Unit 3 now has a new fund for professional expenses and conference travel; there is also a pre-Union professional expense reimbursement account that is "grand-parented" for a few members.
SSHRC for Sessional Lecturers
In November 2006, the right of sessionals to apply for SSHRC research grants was reaffirmed by the UofT.
